The war was declared by more than 30 nations between the years 1914-1918. In the beginning, it started with a small conflict in Southern Europe. Later, it grew and lead to war between the European empires. It became a global conflict when Britain along with its Empire entered into the war. This was not only restricted to the Western front, but it spread to the Middle East, Africa, southern Europe, and even to Eastern Europe.

Hence, attacks on the civilians in nearby areas were common and the main target was to attack the national character of the enemy.

For example, in Britain, the government intervention industries were producing 250,000 machine guns, 4 million rifles, 52,000 airplanes, 25,000 artillery pieces, 2,800 tanks, and more than 170 million artillery shells in the year 1918.

This wartime also experienced a lot of advancements in terms of military and weaponry technology. Hence, aircraft were introduced into war and for the first time civilians and soldiers get attacked from above and this is the reason they become vulnerable. So, there was a significant innovation in communications, chemistry, and manufacturing.
War Of Destruction
So, in this war, over 16 million civilians and soldiers died. Along with this, a countless number of people were left with psychologically and physically wounded. More than that, this World War 1 made significant alterations in terms of the political and social landscape.
It also resulted in attitude changes in terms of both class and gender. This war resulted in the collapse of the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian empires. However, the worst part was recovering from the war. Both the rebuilding cost and the waging total resulted in ravaging the national economies and resulted in the defeat of Central Powers.
If we consider the human cost this world war then it resulted in the creation of a new language in Britain and people knew it as the language of remembrance. This even remains today.
