The first world war had started in the year 1914 and it ended in the year 1919. The whole of Europe has been involved in this war while dividing itself into two parts. All great powers across the globe were involved in it. Two alliances had started opposing each other in this war. The Allies were the first team of alliances. People used to call them Triple Entente as well. On the other hand, there was the Central Empires. A large amount of military was used during World War 1. If we go to an approximate count, then we would see that almost 80% of them were the Europeans. Along with that, approximately 10 million people had lost their lives in the war. Most of them had lost their lives at gunpoint.

The Tension Between The Great Nations
Just before the commencement of first world war, Germany and France were almost at arms against each other. That happened because of the Franco-Prussian war. Germany had opposed the French invasion to Prussia. Besides that, there was another conflict that was increasing. It was between Austria and Russia. They were continuously fighting for the Balkan Peninsula. This is not the end, Germany was indulged in antagonism with England as well. The whole thing was based on colonial and commercial competition. Moreover, there were different other political frictions and military issues that were making the base of the first world war.
Incident That Triggered The First World War
When all of these things were happening at once, the murder of Ferdinand had triggered every country to be at arms. Ferdinand was the prince of Austria who was murdered while he was in Sarajevo. Sarajevo is in Prussia and the government of the country denied to take the liabilities of this incident. This court denial had made the first firing of the war. Gradually, every great nation started taking their own sides and in the summer of 1914, the bloodbath had started.
